Why Scammers Keep Using the Same Scripts
The persistence of common scam narratives, and what it suggests about effectiveness, psychology, and scale.
If a script keeps showing up, it's probably because it keeps working.
Scam operations run like small businesses with thin margins. A script that converts is an asset: it's cheap to reuse, easy to hand to new recruits, and already tested against real targets. Novelty is a cost.
That has a useful consequence for defenders. Repetition is a weakness. The more a script is reused, the easier it is to recognize, and the more a change in that script tells us about what the operators have learned.
Short note. More to come.
